Strange Integrated Systems · Jack Morpheus

Software that runs the business you already have.

I build the apps, device fleets, and AI assistants behind businesses that run on land, buildings, vehicles, and people. Most of it started as a problem in a business I run. I'll tell you straight whether yours is worth fixing.

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, USC 2015. Engineering-trained, operator by trade.

Work by industry

17 industries.
One system each.

Every tile is a system in daily use, with the number that mattered. Real names and data are swapped for samples; the client is a 15,000-acre New Mexico land and hospitality operator unless noted.

AI with permissions

A company assistant that knows who is asking.

Staff, managers, and the owner talk to the same assistant. What it can look up or change follows the person's role, and the server checks every call. A staff member asking for a door code gets a polite no. The owner gets the books.

What's the door code for Cabin 7 tonight?
→ door_codes.get(cabin: 7)✕ outside_your_access (role: staff)
I can't see door codes with staff access. Your manager can send it, or I can open a request for you.
OK. What needs cleaning today?

Three turnovers: Cabins 2, 7, and 11, all checkout by 10. One repair at Cabin 4: kitchen faucet drip.

How I work

Audit. Build. Run.

Start small and paid, so you find out what working with me is like before anything big. Every step ends with something you keep.

01

Audit

I watch how the work gets done, read the data you already have, and write down what is worth fixing and what is not. Fixed price.

  • Process walk-through on site or on a call
  • Data and systems inventory
  • Written plan with costs and risks
02

Build

Small releases into real use, starting with the job that hurts most. You see it working in weeks, not at the end.

  • Web, Android, devices, and AI
  • Tested against your real data
  • Your accounts, your code
03

Run

Software needs someone to keep it working. I monitor it, fix it, and keep improving it on a monthly retainer.

  • Monitoring and alerts
  • Updates and fixes
  • A monthly change budget

Ways to start

Start with an audit.

A fixed-price audit tells you what to fix and what it will cost. You can take the plan and build it with anyone.

I keep it working. Monitoring, fixes, updates, and a set number of hours for changes each month.

  • Security and dependency updates

Who you'd work with

I'm Jack. I run a rental business, I built most of the software behind it, and I do my own repairs.

I started an IT business in 2007. I was ExxonMobil's only in-house mechanical staff on a two-year, roughly $10 million HVAC and building controls project at its corporate headquarters. I've hosted on Airbnb since 2016. When you call, you talk to the person doing the work.

Questions

What people ask before they call.

Something else on your mind? Ask it on the call.

Our data is a mess. Is that a problem?
No. Most of the projects on this site started with paper, spreadsheets, and scanned pages. One started with 66 scanned escrow pages and ended with 1,970 clean rows. Cleaning the data is usually the first release.
We tried AI and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
Usually the AI had access to everything and no rules, or access to nothing useful. I give an assistant a narrow job, the tools for that job, and permissions that follow the person asking. Every action that matters waits for a person to approve it.
What happens after launch?
You pick. I hand over the code, the accounts, and the docs, or I keep running it on a monthly retainer. Either way you are not locked in.
Are you a licensed PE?
I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina and worked in facility operations at ExxonMobil's corporate headquarters. I'm not a licensed professional engineer and don't take work that requires one. Licensure is a goal.
Who owns the code?
You do. It lives in your accounts, under your name. I build on common tools so another developer can pick it up.
Do you only work with land and hospitality?
No. That is where most of the examples come from because it is where I run a business. The same patterns fit any operation with people, buildings, vehicles, devices, and paperwork.

Next step

Tell me what isn't working.
